Mixed Media ~ Debra is a popular workshop instructor known for her innovative techniques in watercolour. Her demo will show the spontaneity of watercolour with mixed media such as collage with handmade papers, inks, coloured pencils, and other creative tools. Debra has exhibited her paintings in solo and group exhibitions and painted many private commissions. Stephen Cheng
Granville Island, Sunday, November 2nd 2pm-4pm
Figure Portrait in Acrylic ~ Stephen will demonstrate his thought process and steps in painting a portrait in acrylics. He will be using contrasting colours such as green for the shadows and oranges for the highlights. Stephen has been a professional artist for 30 years. Simon Cantin
Granville Island, Sunday, November 9th 2pm-4pm
Soapstone Carving ~ Simon will be carving a piece of soapstone using saws, rasps, chisels, files and various grades of sand paper. He will explain the various steps that are related to basic carving and safety. Simon was recently chosen as one of six artists from Surrey to represent the city and to demonstrate his carving at this year's Canada Day celebration in Ottawa. Oil Painting ~ Daniel will be demonstrating techniques with oil and acrylic paints for achieving different natural textures, such as rocks, trees, earth, water and more. He will also show you how to use light and shadows to create more drama in your paintings. Daniel was born in New Westminster, BC and studied Fine Arts at Kwantlen University College. Chris Tyrell presents a 90-minute interactive workshop on visual arts marketing by focusing on examples of visual art marketing strategies that are mentioned in his book, Artist Survival Skills plus other examples not included in the book. There will be a 30-minute question and answer session at the end.
