IDSWEST offers both design savvy consumers and professionals the opportunity to connect with the most current design trends and talent through cutting-edge exhibits, interactive displays and a speakers' series.
"It's the eye candy show," says IDSWest director, Jason Heard. "This is Vancouver's high-end design show. There are no brooms and mops here. There will be things here you won't see anywhere else."
Beyond the designs, the IDSWEST experience delivers entertainment, education and the chance to win fabulous prizing. This year's highlights include.
Speaker Series featuring Barbara Barry: The rock star of the design world, Barbara Barry, will be making her first Vancouver presentation at IDSWEST. An award-winning interior designer, she has created homes for many prominent American families and businesses, and as an entrepreneur, she has partnered with dozens of renowned companies to create product lines in furnishings, china and accessories. Also, don't miss HGTV's Kelly Deck, Steve Nobel of Nobelinks, John Brown of Slow Home and many more at the IDSWEST Speakers Series.
REST: Public Seating Design Competition: In a city in the throes of a ramp up to the Winter Olympics, IDSWEST has challenged ten international designers and architects to create concepts for public seating that are both innovative and meaningful. The designs, many from big-name local designers, will be on display at the IDSWEST. A selection of the designs will then find their way to the city's public venues for a more permanent display.
Feature Exhibit: Vancouver-based HGTV celebrity Kelly Deck (Take it Outside), will not only be presenting at this year's IDSWEST show, she will also be designing a feature display incorporating Seattle-based Modern-Shed (www.modern-shed.com ). Kelly will work her design magic to create an indoor and outdoor environment featuring these small multi-use structures. The display promise to offer new insight into the many possible uses of an outdoor shed, whether it's for a studio, meditation room or storage
IDSWEST Contesting: A variety of contest will allow visitors to indulge in the designs they see at the show.
- Trade professionals who register to attend trade day will be entered to win a B&B Italia Metropolitan Chair sponsored by Inform Interiors, valued at over $3,000.
- WesternLiving offers the chance to win a Sarah Richardson Day Bed, presented by Liberty and Andrew Richard Designs, valued at over $2,500.
- Dyson will be giving away a vacuum designed for aesthetics and cleanliness. Valued at over $500.
- Kitchen Islands for Tropical Islands. As you make your way through the show, visit each of the kitchen island displays for a chance to win a trip for two to a tropical destination.
