The Burnaby Arts Council in Burnaby, BC is asking for artwork for the Burnaby 1' x 1' project. This is an invitation for visual artists to document anything and everything that makes the City of Burnaby a special place to call home, to visit or work in! Artwork can be traditional, non traditional or experimental in approach and style. Each registered artist receives a blank 1' x 1' x 1.5" canvas to work on. The 1st Annual Street Smart Kid'z Online Art Competition is asking for Canadian artists to submit their work with the proceeds of the entry fee to go directly to the distribution of their booklets to help save kids lives throughout the country. Public Art, Victoria, on now until June '08
In the heart of Victoria's busy Douglas Street, an art installation has begun, For Lease: More Than Pretty Pictures, is an evolving art installation that began by filling the windows of 1316 Douglas Street with blank canvases. Artists Joanne Thomson and Elizabeth Thomson, mother and daughter, will each be creating images for one of the storefront windows and arrive once a week to make their additions.
