Langara College presents 4th annual ArtsFest April 2 to May 10, 2008

ArtsFest

Are you curious about the creative process? Interested in the local art scene? Looking for a professional program of study in creative and applied arts? Attend Langara College's 4th annual – a celebration of student success, spectacular grad shows, and a community interactive day.

Taking place on campus and in the community, the public is invited to celebrate new talent and experience some of the best student work, ranging from full installation displays and published works, to the production "Townsville" by one of the best theatre programs in Canada, Studio 58.

Film Arts students Richard Mogg and Travis Turner anticipate their upcoming grad show, Green Screens. "There is something magical going on in Langara's Film Arts program," says Richard Mogg, student director. "Langara's finger is right on the pulse of the film industry as it is today and they are shaping their students with the most relevant and rewarding training that I have ever encountered."

"The collaboration between the writers, directors, and actors has been one of the best parts," adds Travis Turner, student actor.

Langara College's Creative & Applied Arts programs and courses have earned a solid reputation for excellence. Instructors are industry experts and practicing artists and designers. "The strong industry influence helps fuel the energy and creative passion in the classroom," says Gary Kennedy, Department Chair of the Display+Design Program.

ArtsFest provides the community with an opportunity to meet up-and-coming artists, designers, writers, and filmmakers as they share their learning experiences and artistic achievements.

Planet of the Arts – perform, design, create, paint, sculpt and direct! This year, ArtsFest closes with an interactive arts day for the community, Planet of the Arts, on Saturday, May 10 from 1pm-5pm at Langara College (outside Library/Classroom Building). The event is free and open to the community. Langara College's Creative & Applied Arts students are eager to share their work with you. Enter to win an iPod, digital camera, art supplies and more!
