Linden Gardens "Plein Air" On Skaha Lake

Imagine yourself gathering with others in the fresh air, surrounded by spring flowers in a setting overlooking the lake, an entire weekend of learning, exploring colour, composition and creativity while in the splendor of nature.
Painting En Plein Air, or open air, has become a springtime tradition in the Okanagan Valley. For the past six years, sisters Jamie Frazer and Roxanne Frazer Audet have met to host a painting workshop in a local garden. This year promises to be the best yet in the ideal setting of Linden Gardens in Kaleden BC just south of Penticton. With the exciting addition of oil painter Molly March to the workshop for the first time this year, participants can select to work with acrylics, watercolour or oil.
The setting, Linden Gardens, a nine acre public garden with an expansive view of Skaha Lake provides inspiration. With its winding pathways, multiple streams and ponds there is a relaxing and reflective atmosphere. The wide variety of flowers begins with thousands of bulbs and continues throughout the seasons in a year long composition to please the eye of any artist. Picture the influence of English country garden and coastal garden. The lilacs rudbeckia, grasses poppies, lilies and lupins go on as far as the eye can see.

Jamie Frazer of Ashton Creek B.C. paints and teaches in the Okanagan Valley. Jamie attended the Vancouver School of Art (Emily Carr) and Kwantlen College in B.C. She has worked in acrylic paints since 1966 developing a strong impressionistic style, specializing in landscape, and still life. Her hand decorative paintings and murals adorn homes, businesses and restaurants in BC, Ontario, Nova Scotia and United Arab Emirates. Jamie exhibits locally, nationally and internationally. Jamie teaches expressive painting, a process of helping free the creative spirit, which she cautions once released may not be subdued!
Roxanne Frazer Audet lives, paints, and teaches in Paris France. Roxanne has studied interior design (Ottawa), and while traveling in Europe and the middle east focused on Architecture, Art and Culture. She specializes in watercolour painting which she studied with Francoise Gabelier in Paris. Roxanne regularly exhibits her work in Europe and most recently at the Grand Palais in Paris. She is responsible for organizing the annual art show for Canadian women living in Paris held at the Canadian Cultural Centre.

Molly March describes herself as painter, designer and traveler. She has been painting her way around the world for the past 35 years. She also co-founded Paint&Ride, horseback painting adventures in the mountains of B.C. Molly will share her love of oil painting and help the artists explore colour, composition and personal expression.
This workshop on May 3rd and 4th 2008 is open to everyone whether you have painted before or not. The session is designed to allow freedom to create in a friendly, informal environment. Instruction is designed to loosen up your ideas of art expression and encourage the creative spirit. Each teacher offers something unique through different mediums. If you have always wanted to paint, or if you love painting, this weekend provides the setting and all the elements to explore your inner artist.
