Roundhouse 10th Anniversary
The Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre is celebrating its 10th Anniversary with a "Community Bash" on Saturday, May 12th. Part of this day-long festival (11am-8pm) is a special banner project that will involve the public and result in 8 large fabric banners draping from the rafters of the Roundhouse Great Hall. These banners will remain installed during our Anniversary Year. If you have ever attended a program at the Roundhouse — or if you have never been — here is an opportunity not to be missed.
On May 12th, the public is invited to help artist in residence, Andrea Taylor, to print the banners using the blocks created in the workshops held on May 1st, 4th and 11th. Opus is helping to make these special banners possible by sponsoring the event with the materials needed to create the block prints. Come and make your mark May 12 from 11:30am-2:30pm and 3:30pm-6:30pm.
We will be using Styrofoam printmaking blocks and Safety Kut, carving tools and block printing ink. This is a great chance to learn something about printmaking, or if you are already an experienced printmaker, to come and work in a medium you enjoy. It is also an opportunity to be involved in your community and to have an effect on the world around you. Come and be a part of the 10th Anniversary celebrations at the Roundhouse and help create a beautiful legacy of community art.
Three free drop-in block printing workshops in the Arts and Crafts Room. No registration necessary.

Inside and outside the Roundhouse FREE and fun for all ages.Join us in celebrating the first ten years of the Roundhouse! Enjoy the array of entertainment inside and outside, play in the Kids' Zone, get creative and make some art, interact with roving performers, add your community flair to our commemorative banner, join the procession... and don't forget the cake! It'll be a day full of fun, reminiscing, and celebration!
This project is one of many initiatives happening throughout the year as part of the Roundhouse's 10th Anniversary celebrations.
