Continuing Education Centennial Celebration

Courses for $1.00? That's right! If you missed the chance to attend special interest Appreciation Workshops held by the Vancouver School Board at 1907 fees, don't worry – there's more to come. The Vancouver School Board, which celebrates 100 years in Continuing Education this year, continues to commemorate the history of the Continuing Education program and the community it serves with exciting special events.
Drawing and Decorative Arts anyone? In 1907, when continuing education courses cost just $1.00 at the Vancouver School Board, young men and women could further train for the successful execution of their occupation. Classes on subjects like Bookkeeping and Arithmetic to Architectural Drawing and Embroidery kept evening nights interesting and eventful. Now, in 2007, spending the evenings in a Vancouver School Board classroom among other students is even more appealing. With over 1,800 special interest courses to choose from each year, those within the entertainment, arts and crafts section alone are enough to urge anyone to unleash their inner artist.
Come out and help celebrate 100 years of Continuing Education! Bring the whole family and enjoy delicious food, yummy treats, entertainment, music and prizes at our summer Picnic in the Park. On July 7th, from 12:00pm - 3:00pm, come down to the park at the Vancouver School Board on West 10th Ave and Fir St. Join in some complimentary dance and yoga workshops during your visit as well!
But the fun doesn't stop there. Two more nights of $1 Appreciation Workshops will be held at Gladstone Secondary on September 11th and 13th. Be sure to watch for our brochure in mid-August. Whether it's to try a little something new or continue taking the courses you enjoy, the Continuing Education department of the Vancouver School Board is sure to have something that will spark your interest.
