Plein-Air Painting ~ Alfonso will share his approach to watercolour plein-air painting, including how he selects a subject and the principles of scale, proportion and perspective.
Alfonso's interest in plein-air is a result of his travels and his background as an architect and urban designer. Born in Durango, Mexico and now living in North Vancouver, he is a member of the International Plein-Air Painters Organization, Canadian Arts Council, and nominated to the North Shore Artists Guild. Playful Acrylic Portrait Painting ~ Join Rae for an informal presentation about creating portraits of people and animals, sourced from life, photographs and imagination. She will demonstrate how she approaches a fanciful portrait commission, from initial sketches to the finished work.

Pierre Giroux

Incorporating Light with Oil Paints ~ Pierre will showcase one finished and one nearly finished painting and will explain how he achieves different lighting effects, explores the colour palette, and achieves the right balance using tones and hues with oil paints.

The Art Express is a magical conversion of a school bus into a mobile children's art studio!
The Art Express will be at Ocean Art Works, next to the Creekhouse Building on Granville Island for three Tuesdays in a row - July 10th, 17th and 24th from 10:30am-12pm. Board the colourful bus, partake in a little art making and meet the people who run the bus.
