Call for Exhibition Proposals, North Vancouver BC

The North Vancouver Community Arts Council is currently accepting submissions for our Fall 2007 exhibition schedule at CityScape Community Art Space. They accept proposals from all members of the community. Non-artists are invited to submit ideas and concepts for exhibitions they would like to see in the gallery. Artists are welcome to submit individually or as part of a group. Submission deadline is Friday, February 9th, 2007 at 4:30pm. The Jean Jacket Show, North Vancouver BC

This is an open call to all women over 50, who are interested in exploring their feminist power and sense of adventure through the medium of a decorated jean jacket. Deadline for submission is Thursday, February 1st, 2007 at 4:30pm. So take an old jean jacket and deconstruct it, paint it or embellish it the way you feel it represents your power. Mosaics for Everyone, Denman Island BC

Illuminating Life's Wisdom, Victoria BC

Over the course of three months from January 13th to April 2007, Silver Threads Service is offering a series of FREE creative workshops, studios, lectures, directed art projects, and discussion groups twice per week. Participants are encouraged to drop in for one day or as many as they prefer to join an opportunity to have interactive experiences, socialization and learning. The workshops will take place Wednesdays and Fridays from 1pm-3pm at Silver Threads Service in Victoria, 1728 Douglas Street. Also offered are Weekly Drop-in Art Studio for Seniors where everyone is welcome and no art experience is necessary. This is self-directed studio time, so you can work at your own pace. 4th Annual Art on the Line Gala, Kelowna BC

The UBC Okanagan's Visual Arts Course Union is hosting this premier fundraising event on February 3rd with proceeds going to both the 4th Year grad show and the Fine Arts trip to New York in February. Artwork from students and local artists will be up for auction. They are still looking for artwork for this auction. The last day to drop off submissions is January 19th at the university to Linda Falkingham's office in the Fine Arts building at 3333 University Way in Kelowna. Tickets for this event are $150 each. President's Temptations, Vancouver BC

Come to Access Artist Run Centre for the opening reception on Friday, January 12th at 6pm (as the artist has to leave early) for Manuela Lalic's installation. Lalic's installation is a social caricature where cultural indices meet; questioning the place of the individual against the idea of a state of emergency or unconcern. The Sidney and Gertrude Zack Gallery at the Jewish Community Centre, 950 West 41st Avenue in Vancouver, present Drawings and Paintings by Kathryn Jacobi. "BUGS", Vernon BC

Gallery Vertigo presents a selection of pieces from the fine arts students of Vernon's secondary schools. The exhibition runs from Tuesday, January 16th to Saturday, February 3rd. The Opus Visual Arts Newsletter welcomes submissions related to calls for submissions, fundraising initiatives, art events, and unique art initiatives being undertaken by non-profit visual arts organizations or groups, with a focus on Canadian art practices and events occurring within Western Canada predominately.

We try to include all submissions we receive, however due to space restrictions this is not always possible. Late submissions will be considered for our online newsletter.
