Opus Victoria handing over cheque for money raised to Pandora Arts Collective
For the seventh year in a row, Opus Framing & Art Supplies has carried on the tradition of fundraising for local community arts groups during the holiday season.
The staff at our five stores across British Columbia (Victoria, Kelowna, North Vancouver, Granville Island and Langley) chose a specific group they wanted to support, and then helped raised funds for their cause by enlisting the support and generosity of our customers. Opus matched, dollar for dollar, all the funds raised.
The organizations our staff chose to support this year:
Opus Victoria raised $2068.00 for The Pandora Arts Collective, which is a non-profit organization composed of a collection of artists dedicated to creating art.
Opus Kelowna raised $444.65 for The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) ArtWorks Studio program that is committed to providing opportunities for personal growth through creative expression for all ranges of mental illness.
Opus North Vancouver raised $1413.78 for Evergreen House's Art Group which is an Extended Care Facility at Lions Gate Hospital, and with the help of Ruth Payne and dedicated volunteers formed a group to help residents with a previous interest in painting be able to return to that pursuit.
Opus Granville Island raised $2411.09 for Directions Youth Services, which provides Vancouver's youth who are homeless or living in at-risk situations with the tools, support and guidance to help make positive changes in their lives.
Opus Langley raised $2128.20 for The Langley Food Bank which aims to provide nutritious food to approximately 550 registered families as well as; assisting with other needs, whether they are physical, social, or spiritual in nature.
Opus would like to thank all of our caring staff and wonderful customers for their continued support and donations this last holiday season, as everyone can do with a little extra kindness.
