Opus Granville Island, Saturday, August 11th from 10am-12pm
Flex your creative muscle, and join us for a friendly art challenge. We will give you some watercolour paint, a blank postcard and 5 minutes to complete a work of art – that's right, just 5 minutes of unrelenting creativity!
Special guest Kari Foteff from Strathmore Artist Papers will be back to help guide you through this fun and exciting challenge. We will provide all the supplies, all you need to bring is your artistic spirit!
Your completed postcard will be proudly displayed in a salon exhibition at our Langley and Granville Island stores, then returned to you via mail. Prizes will be awarded, and all ages are welcome!
Yoko Nishiyama
Langley, Saturday August 4th, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Reverse Glass Painting ~ Yoko will demonstrate her technique of painting on the backside of glass with many layers of acrylic and enamel paints. Once finished, the final image is viewed from the front side.
Yoko was born and raised in Japan, and started painting once she moved to Canada over 10 years ago. Her subject matter is diverse, from photographs and magazines to geometric patterns. View her work at http://ammolite.exblog.jp
Sandra Ritter
Victoria, Saturday August 11th, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Mixed Media Acrylics ~ Sandra will be demonstrating a mixed media painting of florals using acrylic gels, metallic acrylics and water soluble oils.
Sandra is an artist and teacher, and has exhibited in many galleries throughout the Greater Victoria area including the Royal B.C. Museum and in Beautiful BC Magazine. Fun with Face Painting ~ Come and join Gabrielle a.k.a. Mrs. Picasso or Balloonia and learn some new tips and tricks using Snazaroo Face Paints.

Candace Thayer-Coe
Granville Island, Friday, August 17th, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Suminagashi Marbling ~ Candace will demonstrate Suminagashi oriental paper marbling which involves the floating of inks on water to produce lovely patterns that are captured with rice paper creating a contact print.

Deborah Holowka
Granville Island, Friday August 24th, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Energy & Art ~ Deborah will showcase one finished and one nearly finished painting to demonstrate how she achieves final results on canvas by matching the energy of her surroundings with textures, colours and layers.

Ruth Campbell

Tips for Illustrating Children's Books ~ Join Ruth as she shares her experiences and samples as an illustrator of children's books. Topics include working with an editor, publisher, contracts, and the process of illustrating.
Ruth is a graduate of the Emily Carr Institute, and has degrees from SFU and UBC. Ruth has published one children's book, two more going to print this fall, and a fourth in the spring. Contact Ruth at rcampbell@alumni.sfu.ca
