Vancouver Art Guild
Supporting our Local Young Emerging Artists
Formed in 2001 as a society under the Society Act of British Columbia, the Vancouver Art Guild is a non-profit organization with a strong commitment to meeting the needs of its members and artistic community. The Vancouver Art Guild promotes art education, and supports young emerging artists by awarding two scholarships locally. This year the Guild awarded a $500 art scholarship each to two promising high school students. Scholarships were awarded to Lord Byng's, Fransisca Candra and Vancouver Technical Secondary student, Jonathan Tiong. Award recipients will be enrolling this September at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design.
Fran Alley, a teacher at Vancouver Technical School and founding member of the Guild, approached Opus regarding their art initiative. Inspired by their generosity, Opus agreed to donate half the cost of the gift certificates to match the scholarship amounts.
