You said you wanted unique sizes and that you wanted to save time...

We all know how that feels—and we all know that when creativity strikes, you want to be able to get going as soon as possible. You certainly don’t want to be bogged down with prepping your materials.

At Opus we know this because we have received numerous requests to build custom sized canvas to your specifications—because you do not have the time or the desire to stretch your own. We have also heard that you are looking for unique stretcher sizes that are not available in our standard stretcher bar selection. With both of these requests, it is clear that you are looking to Opus to provide a solution to your stretched canvas needs—and clearly it is our job to do something about that.

With that in mind, we have been exploring different avenues for a Custom Stretched Canvas service. We told you about this a few newsletters ago when we were just getting started with this service. Since that time, we have been working with some of you to further develop this area and to refine the details. We certainly appreciate the help and input we have received from customers thus far, and now we would like to takethe opportunity to tell all of you about how this service is developing, and just how you can go about using it.

Our Custom Canvas Service is as simple as ordering what you need:

Step 1: Fill in a Custom Canvas Order Form, available at any Opus store.
Step 2: Choose your options: indicate the size, quantity, and whether you want it with or without canvas.
Step 3:Take your completed form to one of our staff to process your order.
Step 4: Our staff will tell you when your canvas will be available for pick up.

~ The stretcher bars used for our professional custom service have been designed specifically for Opus.

~ The 1-1/2" deep bars are made from kiln-dried Fir and are assembled using metal underpinning.

~ If you have chosen to receive your stretcher with canvas, it will come back-wrapped with 100% cotton primed canvas in a 7oz weight. All four corners are wrapped flat and even for an exhibition quality finish. The canvas is pre-primed with an acrylic gesso which has been made specifically for Opus in order to offer you a superior painting surface. You can easily add additional coats of gesso if you prefer a different surface finish, or apply an oil ground for oil painting.

~ Larger sized stretcher frames will come with cross-bracing and gussets. The cross-bracing is made from the same kiln-dried fir as the stretcher bars. Gussets are made from 1/8" hardboard and attached to all corners with screws for added strength.
