Art Fun on the Run!

Children just love to create—give them the ingredients for an artistic masterpiece and you have a recipe for a busy block of time, with one or more fine works of art to show for it.

A new opportunity has arrived for children to flex their creative muscles with art classes that come to them—The Art Express.

In October of 2005, partners Michael Bray and his wife Katherine Main, started their biggest art project ever. The concept was to offer the community art fun on the run. The result of their massive project was a magical conversion of a school bus into a mobile children's art studio! Children simply climb aboard and enter this art studio on wheels to experience fantastic art projects and kids' crafts.

The Art Express believes that each child is unique. It is their goal to encourage the originality in children to come alive, giving them a place where they can experience their own creative powers in a fun, helpful and exciting environment. Children need the creative tools and a place and time for them to exercise their art experiences. The Art Express provides these tools, at a convenient time and place, wherever they are wanted. They'll come to you with eight-week, six-week, or weekend workshops on painting and drawing, world crafts, electronic gadgetry, papier-mache, clay, tie-dye/t-shirt art, and beading.

The Art Express provides arts programs for the B.C. Homeschool Association, as well as providing supplementary art programs to communities, families, after-school care and Strata neighbourhoods. They also serve as a highly functional, creative centre for school field trips and children's birthday parties.

The presence of dedicated instructors chosen for their ability to connect and relate to children has helped The Art Express to design a cool and exciting children's art studio in this one room school bus. These instructors have turned the bus into a focused, creative space that is an ideal environment to share and lead classes of 10 to 12 children within the ages of 3 to 10 years.

The Art Express also sends their one room school bus to events, working with festival organizers, event coordinators, corporations and party planners, to create an exciting "art buzz" for kids. The bus, inside and out, heightens any event and the art and craft projects taught during these events are designed and customized to help suit the theme of each festival, event or party.

Do you remember the joy of bringing home your first painting and the pride you felt when it took its place on the fridge? Share that excitement and the fun of creating with the kids in your life with the Art Express. When you are looking for a little art fun on the run, the Art Express is a great vehicle for art activities. What better way to keep a child's creativity up and running?
