BIMPE

New Leaf Editions and Dundarave Print Workshop is holding the Biennial International Miniature Print Exhibition (BIMPE). Artists may submit up to three prints and an entry fee of $30CDN or $25US is required. Prints can be any printmaking medium and the printed area must not exceed 10cm x 15cm. Deadline is Sunday April 30th, 2006. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. The exhibition will be held at the Federation Gallery located at 1241 Cartwright Street on Granville Island in June 2006 and at Dundarave Print Workshop located at 1640 Johnston Street, Granville Island in July 2006. North Shore Arts Symposium

The 9th Annual Arts Symposium will take place from 9:00am-4:00pm on Sunday February 5th at the John Braithwaite Community Centre located at 145 1st Ave West in North Vancouver. This event includes presentations and workshop sessions in all disciplines. Admission includes entrance to workshops, demonstrations and the market place, as well as a catered lunch. Admission fees are $35 for North Vancouver Residents, $40 for non-residents and $20 for North Vancouver Students. Enjoy the Bloom

The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival and VanDusen Botanical Garden invites artists of all levels to capture the incredible visual display of Vancouver's awe-inspiring cherry trees en plein-air during the first annual celebration throughout March. The festival will culminate with the Vancouver in Bloom exhibition over the Easter weekend at VanDusen Botanical Garden where Vancouverites will cast their vote for "The Best Plein-Air Blossom Painting" and the winner will receive a prize from Opus Framing & Art Supplies. Open Call for Artists

The North Vancouver Community Arts Council is accepting submissions for the themed exhibition Broken Values. This mixed media exhibit seeks works that comment on the political, spiritual and social climate in the world today. There is a jury fee of $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Deadline for entries is Monday February 27th at 4:30pm. The exhibition will take place from Friday March 24th, 2005 to Saturday April 15th, 2006. Visual artists are invited to submit proposals for exhibitions to the ALFA Guild Gallery in Nakusp, BC. ArtSpacific 2006

This 5th annual juried exhibition takes place at the Delta Arts Council's Firehall Centre for the Arts located at 11489 84th Ave in Delta, BC. This exhibition will include work submitted by artists from the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island. Entry forms are available from the Firehall Centre for the Arts, Tsawwassen Arts Centre (4172 56th Street, Tsawwassen), Opus Langley, North Vancouver and Granville Island, and at www.deltaartscouncil.com. Gala Fundraiser

The UBC Faculty of Creative Studies and the Visual Arts Course Union present Art on The Line on Saturday February 4th at 7:00pm. The Gala is held at Parkinsons Recreation Centre at 1800 Parkinson Way in Kelowna, BC. There are only 100 tickets available and tickets are $150 each. One ticket admits two people and includes appetizers, entertainment, and a piece of juried artwork. Funds raised benefit the BFA Graduate Exhibition as well as a class field trip to San Francisco. 10% of proceeds will also be given to a charity, yet to be determined. Hong Kong's Cultural Heritage—A History of 6000 years is a jointly organized exhibition by the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office and the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Vancouver. The Healing Power of Art

The Opus Visual Arts Newsletter welcomes submissions related to calls for submissions, fundraising initiatives, art events, and unique art initiatives being undertaken by non-profit visual arts organizations or groups, with a focus on Canadian art practices and events occurring within Western Canada predominately.

We try to include all submissions we receive, however due to space restrictions this is not always possible.
