The Fund for the Arts on the North Shore (FANS) annual fundraiser has become a staple of the North Vancouver arts community. With a firm belief in honouring artists, the Arts & Culture Commission of North Vancouver (ACCNV) acknowledges the wealth and importance of artistic talent on the North Shore with their prestigious FANS Recognition Award.

It is during the FANS Night Arts Gala & Fundraising Event that recognized artists receive the FANS Award. The award is available to all artists, musicians, sculptors, actors, painters, dancers, film-makers, etc., who have a substantial and recognized body of work. The votes are in and the 2005 FANS Recognition Award Honourees are First Nations artist X wa-lack-tun (Rick Harry), and visual artist Ross Penhall.

In addition to this acknowledgement, the Gala also showcases local talent and fundraises for the FANS Fund which annually disburses cash awards to individual artists through the Don S. Williams Award. This allows for continual support of this artistically rich community.

The Gala takes place Saturday, October 1st, 2005 at 7:00pm at the District of North Vancouver Municipal Hall.
