Georgia Strait Alliance
A dinner auction will be held to raise money for this marine conservation organization
that is working to restore and protect the Strait of Georgia. Held Saturday October
22nd, the evening will include an elegant seafood dinner, live and silent auctions
of fine artwork and limited edition prints by noted artists such as Robert Bateman,
Christina Grace, Mark Hobson, and Allan Hancock as well as unique pieces from a
notable private collection of African art and other luxury items and services, door

West Coast Chocolate Festival
Opus Framing & Art Supplies is proud to support the 4th Annual West Coast Chocolate
Festival. This festival is a series of events that occur over eight days in October
in the Tri-Cities area. The festival is volunteer lead, with all proceeds going
to support youth art programs. At the event, All Things Chocolate, there
will be chocolate themed events, products, services including a Kids Arts Village.

Fraser Valley Watercolour Society
The Fraser Valley Watercolour society will participate in an Art Show at the Mission
Art Gallery (MAGie) starting from Wednesday October 26th to Sunday November 20th,
2005. Featuring a wide range of original new works by local artists, the show will
be open to the public during MAGie hours, Wednesdays through Sundays from 1:00pm
- 4:00pm with an opening to take place Friday October 28th from 7:00pm - 9:00pm.

Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation
Artists are invited to submit applications for an artist in residence program with
the Vancouver Board of Parks and recreation. The program is to support artists working
in community contexts and to encourage the development of a wide variety of interactions
between artists and community members. Artsits from all disciplines, including visual,
video, performance, writers, dancers and theatrical are invited to submit proposals.
Packages are available for pick up only, at the Park Board office located at 2099
Beach Ave or at participating Community Centers. Residencies provide and artists
fee of $8000 with a materials budget of $2000. Projects may take place at any time
of the year as long as they are completed within 2006. Participating centers for
2006 are False Creek Community Centre located at 1318 Cartwright St, Kitsilano Community
Centre located at 2690 Larch St and Marpole, Oakridge Community Centre located at
990 59th Ave West. Deadline for submissions is Monday October 17th at 5:00pm. For

The Shuswap Summer School of the Arts is looking for qualified instructors for next
summers workshops in painting, drawing, music, clay, sculpture, film, stage, writing,

Mayworks Project
The Vancouver Island Mayworks Project is accepting submissions for its May 2006
work-related exhibit. This year's show deals with generally unrecognized forms of
work and is titled Working without a net. Subject matter can include but is not
limited to domestic workers, migrant workers and the struggle of marginal persons
for survival. This juried show will be held at the Oceanside Art Gallery in Parksville,
BC throughout the month of May 2006.All media are acceptable. To submit please send

Merge Call for Artists
The Merge Festival is currently seeking proposals from curators and visual, media,
and performance artists for its 1st Annual Festival in May 2006. Interest is focused
on projects that are intended for outside traditional gallery spaces including site-specific,
installation, outdoor video screening, performance art and other hybrid practices.
This is an open call with no specific theme. The Festival's curatorial committee
will examine proposals with priority based on artistic merit, clarity, articulation,
feasibility, and unsuitability for traditional gallery spaces. Send submissions

Imprint on the World Contest
Speedball invites art teachers to enter themselves and their students into the Imprint
On The World Contest. There are cash prizes available to be won by both teachers
and students. To enter, create a Block Printing or Screen Printing lesson plan using
Speedball Inks. Using any theme related to "Imprint on the World". Teach the plan
to your class. Collect your student entries and submit them along with a copy of
your lesson plan and completed entry forms. Mail the lesson plan, entry forms and

Gallery Gachet's 2006 Artist Call
Proposals are being accepted for Gallery Gachet's two exhibition spaces for solo,
group, juried and curated exhibitions. Solo and Group Proposals must include at
least 10 supporting images, (colour prints are preferred) photograph list with title,
medium, dimensions and year and Artist statement (250-500 words) pertaining to overall
body of work for each participant and an artists CV for each artist in a solo or
group show. A written proposal stating a well thought out theme for the show (250-500
words).
