The Vancouver Art Guild, a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging the study and appreciation of art in Vancouver, announces its Winter Salon for 2005. The group's annual sale and show is scheduled for Sunday November 6th from

Vancouver's Call for Submissions
Artists in our Midst is now accepting applications for their upcoming 2006 spring exhibits. Artists must live in either West Point Grey, Kitsilano, or Dunbar/Kerrisdale, and do original work that exhibits a high level of artistic ability and good craftsmanship. Community Art Matching Fund Workshops
The Community Art Matching Fund provides support for neighbourhood-based art projects that bring people together and improve and develop parks and facilities on city owned land, including libraries, fire halls, community centres, parks and more. This workshop will give you the opportunity to meet fellow artists and community groups and see presentations by artists and community groups who have participated in the past. Also learn more about the Community Art Matching Fund application. The workshops take place at Bear Creek Park Pavilion, across the parking lot from the Surrey Arts Centre, located at 13750 88th Ave. The workshops are on Wednesday November 9th or Thursday November 17th from 7:00pm-8:30pm on both days. Studio2 Gallery's Call for Submissions
Studio2 Gallery welcomes artists of any medium—paintings, pottery, furniture, photography, textiles, etc to submit for exhibitions in 2006. Artists may drop off 3 pieces of original artwork, including recent biography and portfolio, by appointment. Deadline is November 15th, 2005. Submission fee is $10. The Eileen Fong Artists' Co-op Gallery
A gallery artists group show with the theme of "West Coast Solitude" will take place during the month of November. The gallery monthly art demo is scheduled for November 26th from 2:00-3:30 pm by Allyson MacBean, demonstrating painting birds and furry animals in acrylic and oil. Mayworks Project
The Vancouver Island Mayworks Project is accepting submissions for its May 2006 work-related exhibit. This year's show deals with generally unrecognized forms of work and is titled "Working without a Net". Subject matter can include but is not limited to domestic workers, migrant workers and the struggle of marginal persons for survival. This juried show will be held at the Oceanside Art Gallery in Parksville, BC throughout the month of May 2006.All media are acceptable. Opus Langley's Holiday Card Making
Explore the Langley Centennial Museum's decorated galleries as a family and enjoy many different pioneer and traditional crafts. Nakusp's Call for Submissions
Visual artists are invited to submit proposals for exhibitions. Submission requirements are a description of proposed exhibit, CV or biography, minimum of 10 slides or photos which are labelled with artist's name, title of work, medium, dimensions and date made, and an artist's statement. The Gallery will not show any works previously shown in this venue. Island Mountain Arts in Wells, BC is proud to announce the publication of the 2006 Nude BC Gold Rush History Calendar. Not afraid to 'bare all' to support the arts, the good folks of Wells, including local celebrities like the mayor, give a window into Canadian heritage, while also showing a diverse range of ages, culture and body types. The Opus Visual Arts Newsletter welcomes submissions related to calls for submissions, fundraising initiatives, art events, and unique art initiatives being undertaken by non-profit visual arts organizations or groups, with a focus on Canadian art practices and events occurring within Western Canada predominately.
We try to include all submissions we receive, however due to space restrictions this is not always possible. Late submissions will be considered for our online newsletter located at www.opusframing.com. Deadline for submissions is the first day of the month prior to publication.
