North Vancouver's Call for Exhibition Proposals

The North Vancouver Community Arts Council invites artists to submit exhibitions ideas for CItyScape Community Art Space for September 2005 to March 2006. Each exhibition will run for approximately one month. Submission deadline is February 25th, 2005 at 4:00pm. The BCYSTH is holding a two-stage juried exhibition to raise awareness of Prevention of Violence Against Women Week held April 24th-30th, 2005. To make stage one possible, the BCYSTH seeks faculty to help organize the contest at their school. Participating schools need to have selected two finalists from their institutions by the first week of March 2005. One image will be chosen for reproduction in a poster which will commemorate the project and be distributed to transition houses, safe homes, second stage housing, participating art deparments. The Langley Arts Council and the Langley Centennial Museum & NEC are pleased to announce a Juried Art Show, Random Acts of Art. This exhibition will be held at the Museum gallery from April 7th - June 24th, 2005. The show is open to all artists in the Lower Mainland and there will not be a theme. Entry forms available at the LAC office at 5202 204th Street, Langley or at the Langley Centennial Museum at 9135 King Street, Fort Langley. Deadline for entry is March 10th, 2005. The City of Vancouver invites artists to perform at the beginning of regular council meetings. These 3-5 minute mini-presentations will reflect the cultural and creative diversity of Vancouver, and provide artists and the Council with the occasion to celebrate the arts as part of civic life. The presentations will be carried on Shaw Cable and artists will be paid an honorarium. Individual artists of all ages and arts and cultural organizations regardless of discipline are welcome. The Planning Committee and City of Richmond are pleased to launch the inaugural Richmond Outdoor Art Exhibition (ROAE) from July 22 - 24, 2005. The ROAE is a juried national and international event for students and artists working in contemporary fine arts and crafts. Artists are invited to submit slides of their work for this juried exhibition. The registration fee is $150/artist and $100/art student. The application deadline is March 31st, 2005. Warmland Calligraphers of the Cowichan Valley is holding their 8th annual exhibition and sale at The Loft Gallery at Vallely Vines to Wines in the Mill Bay Shopping Centre from February 5th - March 4th, 2005. The show will include members' current work, a decorated envelope display and greeting cards. Both framed and matted pieces will be for sale. The BC Parkinson Society (PSBC) hosts the 2nd annual Porridge for Parkinson's on March 12th, 2005 at the Floral Hall in Van Dusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver. The Society is inviting artists to donate artwork for their silent auction. Artists will not only be helping people in BC affected by Parkinson's but also exposing the public to their art. The Burnaby Art Gallery invites artists to submit artwork for their upcoming exhibition, The Truth About Cats and Dogs: Portraits of our Pets. Submissions can be either a drawing, photograph, digital images, paintings of your cat or dog. Artists may submit one entry per household and all artwork submitted will be exhibited. Artwork cannot be returned. The deadline for submission is February 11th, 2005.
