Stolen Art

Lawrence Tracey of the WestWind Art Gallery & Framing in Langley, BC www.wwag.ca has offered to host a website where artist can post warnings about non-professional dealers and galleries. Artists who would be interested in this service should contact Lawrence at 604-530-4833 or email info@wwag.ca

This idea needs careful execution in terms of legal liability, ensuring that no reputable dealer is slandered. There are sites where stolen art can be registered, that require that the people who post notices about stolen artwork have a police crime number or court documentation number that ensures readers that the posted report is valid. MyArtClub.Com/Stolen.Art is one site that puts this idea into practice. The site is a free service to post images and describe details on-line about stolen artworks. A handy reference point for the public and public authorities, this site is open to all artists. Artists who have suffered a theft of artwork are encouraged to email webmaster@myartclub.com for submission details.
