Gallery Gachet's Way to Bakersfield
Gallery Gachet presents the exhibition, Way to Bakersfield, from August 5th to September 4th, 2005. The opening reception is August 5th from 7:00-10:00pm. Bakersfield lies on Route 66 in the US and has developed a mythical reputation as a sort of Gotham City destination for the depraved, down and out, lost souls and accidental tourists. The theme also refers to "Streets of Bakersfield", a song made famous by Dwight Yoakam. The show will highlight a very hillbillyish/folkish/freakish atmosphere. Outlandish and cultish in nature, it looks to explore some of the darker spots in the human psyche, including alientation and the empowerment that can come from it at times. Gallery Gachet is located at 88 East Cordova Street in Vancouver, BC. For details call 604-687-2468 or visit www.gachet.org
