We are often looking at new ways to share ideas and information with you. This summer we are excited to introduce our first Opus Summer Artist Series, where you will have an opportunity to stop by our stores and learn some new techniques or gather new ideas from unique and interesting artists working in a variety of media.

Gail Whitter
Langley:
August 6th
2:00pm-4:00pm

Gail, a multi-media artist, has a passion for Artist Trading Cards (ATC) and has inspired many artists to take part in this creative art form. Currently, Gail is working in chinese brush, watercolours, acrylics and encaustics. She has conducted art workshops and has recently formed The Alternate Art Club (TAAC) in Trail. She is co-manager of Paint-n-Things ATCs and is a Guardian Angel Artist. Her graphics and concrete poetry have appeared in several literary publications both here and in the U.S.

Come out and join Gail for a demonstration on ATC techniques. Or, if you already are involved in making ATCs, bring your binder for trading on site! For more information, contact Gail at gaildwhitter@hotmail.com

Suzanne Summersgill
Granville Island:
August 21st
2:00pm-4:00pm

Suzanne is part of pinnstudio, a two-woman design studio that works on projects that involve illustration, printing and painting. They love detail and found treasures with insignificant marks that reveal a hint of someone's past. Using natural and recycled sources when possible, Suzanne and her partner work from project to project—on paintings for gallery shows, creating custom eco-spaces for kids, teaching in schools, as well as workshops on being creative.

Join Suzanne as she demonstrates carving and block printing her series of original characters. Families are encouraged to attend this kid-friendly demonstration. Learn how to make something fun for the entire family to enjoy. Contact Suzanne at pinnstudio@telus.net
