Richmond?s Call for Proposals
The City of Richmond Public Art Commission, in collaboration with Richmond Gateway Theatre Society, is seeking proposals from artists to design, fabricate, and install a site-specific art wall to be incorporated at the Gateway Theatre ?Fly Tower?. The theme will be 20 years of performing arts excellence and particular attention will be paid to how the artist?s proposal celebrates and enhances the role and identity of the Gateway Theatre in the city. Short-listed artist or teams will be paid a fee. The budget available to the selected artist or team will be $47,000, inclusive of all expenses. Main Street Drift?s Call for Artists & Businesses
The Drift?s Artist and Business Committee invites applications from artists and businesses in and around the Main Street area wishing to be involved in the 2005 Main Street Drift. This year?s Drift will see a focus on Main Street community participation in activities such as mural painting and children?s art. Registration forms are available now. Surrey?s Call for Artists
The Arts Council of Surrey, in collaboration with the Surrey Art Gallery, is inviting artists to enter its annual juried art exhibition, ARTS 2005. Entries from residents of Surrey, White Rock, Langley, Delta and Richmond are welcome. Residents from outside these areas are also welcome to enter, however they must belong to clubs that are members of the Arts Council, or they must become a member of the Arts Council themselves. Possible New Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA)
Bob McMurray, past president of the FCA and Loreena Lee of the Fraser Valley Chapter have agreed to attend a meeting of local artists interested in forming a new Chapter of the Federation. All artists from White Rock, Surrey, Langley, Delta and Ladner are invited to come and participate in the possible founding of the above. The Arrow Lakes Fine Arts (ALFA) Guild Society in Naksup invites artists to submit proposals for exhibitions. Abilities Festival
A celebration of Deaf and Disability Arts And Culture will come together in Toronto in the fall of 2005 in an extraordinary multifaceted and multidisciplinary festival to showcase and celebrate the talents, strengths and achievements of artists with disabilities. Abilities Festival is accepting submissions for the Connections 2, a juried exhibition of 2D work by artists with disabilities. The exhibition will run October 27th- November 20th, 2005 at Joseph D Carrier Gallery Columbus Centre, Toronto. To apply, artists should send a maximum of three numbered slides, photographs and digital images, with an accompanying list of title, medium, and dimensions of the work. An artist statement and Curriculum Vitae that includes mailing address, postal code and phone, fax, and email is required with a SASE. Watermark Printmakers Society
Song Cycle is an original exhibition of hand-pulled prints in relief, intaglio and monotypes, from 11 members of Watermark Printmakers Society, a non-profit organization in Victoria. Alternator Gallery
The Alternator Gallery accepts exhibition proposals from artists and curators based on Compatibility with the Alternator?s mandate, quality of the proposal, quality of work submitted by the artist, and availability of space. Submissions from both individuals and groups will be considered with an emphasis on group shows and /or collaborations and work that demonstrates an experimental or exploratory approach. South Delta Artists Guild
The South Delta Artists Guild is pleased to announce the coming of Oil and Water, their first annual juried Exhibition. Artists are invited to submit entries by slide with a minimum of three slides. Categories for entry are work on paper (no photography, or prints please) and work on canvas or board. Works must be original and not created from a workshop or previously hung in a gallery. The work is not to exceed 4?x 6? including frame. A best in show award in the amount of $500 will be given out as well as several other cash prizes. Saanich Peninsula Arts and Crafts
The Saanich Peninsula Arts and Crafts will be hosting their 51st Annual Show and Sale at the Mary Winspear Community Cultural Centre located at 2243 Beacon Avenue in Sidney. The show and sale will feature paintings, pottery, sculpture, crafts, cards, fabric arts, and more. The show and sale runs April 30th, 2005 from 10:00am-8:00pm and May 1st, 2005 from 10:00am-4:30pm. Guest sculpture artist Gus Galbraith will be in attendance and there will be demonstrations, light refreshments and door prizes.
