Painting on the Edge 2005 is the 3rd annual open, international, juried exhibition sponsored by the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA) and Opus Framing and Art Supplies. This event has been a big success in its first two years and it just keeps getting better! The 2005 prospectus is available online at www.artists.ca, in the gallery at 1241 Cartwright Street on Granville Island and at any of the five Opus locations.

We are very happy to announce that there is even more prize money available in 2005, including three special Opus awards. These awards consist of three $1,000 shopping sprees in framing, surfaces and paints & mediums at any Opus store of the winner?s choosing. The FCA and Opus hope that all artists whose work meets the eligibility criteria will take up the challenge of Painting on the Edge 2005 and enter the show. Eligibility Criteria: This exhibition is open to all living artists worldwide. Entries must not be copies, derivatives or based in any way on other copyrighted or published paintings, photographs or other artistic works. They must be entirely the work of the entrant, executed without the supervision of an instructor and within two years of the entry deadline. Works must not have been exhibited previously in any other FCA exhibition.

Call for Entries: This annual exhibition is open to artists working in all painting, printmaking and drawing media. Abstract, expressive, impressionist or realistic styles are all welcome. Successful entries will combine an original subject or concept, feature excellent composition and skillful use of the chosen medium. They will capture the jury?s interest and excite or move the viewer because they represent the artist?s imagination, involvement and sincerity.
