Back by popular demand! Alice Rich has scheduled another presentation of her Artrepreneur Seminar for August 28th and 29th on Denman Island, BC. This seminar was originally presented in conjunction with Alice Rich's articles which appeared in the Opus newsletter from November to May this past year. Showcasing around 150 original works in oils, watercolours, pastels, and mixed media, created by Gabriola Island artists, this annual art show takes place on July 17th, 2004 from 10am-3pm at the Rollo Centre on Gabriola Island. Original works, unframed artworks, prints, and cards will be offered for sale. There will also be live music and refreshments to enjoy. The Community Arts Council of the Saanich Peninsula presents this 10th annual show and sale of arts and crafts at the Mary Winspear Cultural Centre in Sidney from July 24th to August 8th, 10am - 5pm daily. Opening night with artists, crafts people, local dignitaries and guitarist Brad Prevedoros is on July 23rd, 6pm-9pm. Artists are invited to make submissions for this annual award program which is intended to assist one or more North Shore artists in their chosen field. To be eligible artists must be residents or have the majority of their creative work take place on the North Shore. The artist must also be active in their particular discipline with the goal of pursuing a future in that discipline.

Opus Langley is holding an open call for their annual art exhibition to children under the age of 16. All artwork must be completed on an official 12" x 12" form which is available for pick up only at our Langley store starting July 2nd. All completed entries must be received by July 28th. Work can be created in any medium provided it is attached to the form and fits a 12" x 12" frame. Artwork will be displayed from August 1st to August 22nd at our Opus Langley store. Presented by the Richmond Artist Guild, this festival in the park features work by local artists, entertainment, displays, and children's activities on July 11th, 2004 from 10am-8pm (weather permitting). The museum's Foyer Art Program provides spaces for artists to exhibit their works. All artists are invited to make proposals for the exhibition of their work in one of two spaces available. From August 20th to 22nd a Bit of Forest Art Show will feature art in the garden, music and tea. Salt Spring Island artists are hosting the Celebrate Art on Salt Spring Paint-In on September 4, 2004 in Ganges. This event is similar to the Moss Street Paint-In, which is held annually in Victoria. A reception will be held on the evening of September 3rd in conjunction with the SSI Painters Guild summer show. Artists are invited to bring their paints and create art en plein air.
