Grunt Gallery

Situated in Mount Pleasant in Vancouver, this 20 year-old artist-run center supports emerging artists and gives established artists the opportunity to work in new directions. For its 20th anniversary fund-raiser, the gallery has produced a limited edition set of pillowcases imprinted with an image taken from the 2002 exhibition, The Named and The Unnamed by artist Rebecca Bellmore. This ecological reserve, off Nanoose Bay, BC, owned and managed by The Land Conservancy is the place of an art retreat and partnership combining land stewardship and art education. On October 1st to 3rd participants will work half days removing invasive plant species and the rest of the day taking art classes or working independently as artists in beautiful surroundings. The Arts Centre and City of Port Moody is seeking an artist to create artwork suitable for a series of street banners. This is a call for qualifications from artists experienced with public art, budgeting and art fabrication of the urban environment. Deadline for qualification submissions is September 15th, 2004.
