Painting on the Edge

The popular and inspirational Painting on the Edge is back! Artists will receive yet another chance to freely express their creative talent in the 2nd Annual Painting on the Edge presented by the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA). The public will have the privilege of viewing some of the most extraordinary works of art from around the world.

Open to all artists worldwide, Painting on the Edge is an international juried exhibition of paintings and drawings in any media. Opus is pleased to be able to work with the FCA in making this a yearly event for Federation members, non-members and the art viewing public to participate in and enjoy.

This exhibition will offer $6,000 in prizes including three unique Opus Awards. The Opus Awards are three $1,000 art supply shopping sprees at an Opus store location of the winners choosing. The prize categories are: $1,000 of fine art framing; $1,000 of fine art papers and painting supports; and $1,000 of paints and painting mediums.

These fine art categories represent three unique areas of Opus. Many of you know of our unique framing services (our very first frame, the Opus Metal Exhibition Frame, is still one of our most popular frames amongst artists, galleries and museums). We also take pride in the line of artist papers we have developed, with the newest addition being the Opus European Watercolour paper. Finally, our selection of paints and mediums includes Gamblin, Golden and Daniel Smith products, among many other artist-grade materials.

This year, it is a great honor for the FCA to have world-renowned artist Carla O'Connor as their guest slide juror. In the past she has been a juror for many national exhibitions across the United States and Canada. She is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the Northwest Watercolor Society, and the American Watercolor Society. O'Connor has contributed to countless magazines including Artists Magazine, Watercolour Magazine, and Watercolour Magic.

The FCA and Opus hope that artists who meet the criteria will be inspired to take on the challenge of the 2nd Annual Painting on the Edge. Please contact the Federation of Canadian Artists 1241 Cartwright Street, Vancouver BC at 604-681-8534, email fca-admin@artists.ca or visit their website at www.artists.ca for more information on this exciting exhibition opportunity.
