Artists Among Us: Voices from the Edge
All visual artists who have experienced mental illness are invited to participate in this exhibition and sale, which takes place in Kelowna, BC at the CN Heritage Railway Station at the Corner of Ellis and Clement Streets. All art media will be considered for the show including paintings, drawings, sculpture, textiles, pottery and mixed media. The number of works shown is dependent upon the number of interested artists and amount of space available. The exhibition takes place October 2nd to 10th, 2003 but you must register to state your interest by September 15th, 2003.
The primary purpose of this event is to celebrate the artists' strengths, abilities and creativity as well as show mental illness in a new light in our community. If the artist chooses to sell their artwork, 100% of the profit stays with the artist. There will be a grand opening reception on October 2nd in the evening to meet the artists. Please take advantage of this unique opportunity.
To register or for more information, please call Cori via the BCSS office in Kelowna 250-868-3119. This event is made possible through the generous donations of time and money of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Kelowna and District Arts Council, BC Schizophrenia Society, Interior Health Authority, Okanagan Advocacy and Resource Society, Consumer Funds Committee and countless volunteers.
