Wondering where to find the coolest, hippest handmade gifts for everyone on your holiday list? Do you want to support talented Canadian artisans and designers instead of huge multinational chains? Would you rather listen to the hottest DJs rather than Christmas music? Well then Make It is the place you want to be this November 20th-22nd! Shop from over 90 of Canada's hottest emerging artisans under one roof.
What sets Make It apart from a typical craft show is the funky, upbeat atmosphere. Top DJs will be spinning urban beats as you peruse the booths creating a fun party vibe. This is definitely not your "granny's craft show" and therefore there will be no pinecone art or Popsicle stick reindeers in sight! At Make It you will only find cool, innovative and stylish items that generally fall into the art, fashion, accessories, jewelry, gourmet food and home decor categories. The show is also about appreciating creativity, connecting entrepreneurs and giving conscious shoppers an alternative to the mall. Why not have some fun while you shop and entice all of your senses?!
The inspiration for Make It occurred when designer Jenna Herbut (www.bootyflybags.com) and her brother Chandler Herbut (www.oleoriginals.com) found it hard to persuade friends to come visit them at traditional craft fairs. Doilies, pinecone art and pressed flower bookmarks were not their cup of tea and they felt that if the shows were more fun and exciting it would be easier to get peers to stop by. Jenna and Chandler knew the importance of branding and positioning so they decided to give the typical craft show a much needed marketing makeover. They thought if a craft show had more of a party feel it would be easy to get their friends to check it out. Make It is a shopping experience for the next generation who crave something different.
This will be the second Make It show in Vancouver and the first time it will be held at the Croatian Cultural Centre on Commercial Drive. The spring show had over 2400 art and fashion lovers through the door and we are hoping for double that for our holiday edition. To better the community Make It will be supporting the BC Ronald McDonald House and will raise money for this amazing charity through a silent auction at the show.
With semi annual shows in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver Make It Productions is becoming the largest producer of independent art and fashion events in Western Canada. Both Jenna and Chandler hope you will make it to Make It this November to satisfy all your holiday shopping needs!
Feel good about what you buy!
