So who are we? Well, The Art Studios is a thriving Vancouver Coastal Health program, located at Victoria and 44th Avenue. Members with a mental health diagnosis, of all ages and history, with or without knowledge of art, (some members previously attended art school) enjoy the safe, respectful environment at The Art Studios. We have one pottery studio, one painting and printmaking studio, a library (The Rembrandt Room, which doubles as an art studio) and space for our superb rehabilitation staff. Art classes, workshops and studio time happen throughout the week. Recently, an external mural was completed by members, under the guidance of a staff member with assistance from artist Richard Tetrault.
Our collaborative program created by members and staff produces outstanding artwork while providing invaluable opportunities for rehabilitation. It gives structure to our members' lives with effective long-lasting results in mental health recovery. Research shows the beneficial link between actively using your creativity and maintaining stability while managing mental illness. Members can create, volunteer, mentor or teach at The Art Studios. Participation can be short-term or long-term.
Profits from The Winter Sale’s Silent Auction go into The Members' Fund. This vital Fund pays for art related items outside the programs' annual budget – including paints, glazes, canvases and stretchers, as well as books and magazines for our expanding library. We are currently saving hard for two projects, firstly a new kiln for the Pottery Studio, and then the purchase and installation of more efficient sinks in the Painting Studio.
The members are grateful for The Art Studios and to Vancouver Coastal Health for providing such outstanding program for growth and recovery. The Winter Sale is our opportunity to share our creativity with you, as well as build awareness around mental illness within the community.
You are warmly invited to our Winter Sale. Great Items. Great Prices. Great Event.
